Stephen is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building and Chartered Construction Manager with almost 40 years of varied construction experience.

Stephen started his construction career in 1981 with Taylor Woodrow construction in London working in building and civil engineering estimating being involved in projects ranging from industrial developments, nuclear power stations and Heathrow Terminal 4. Following a return to a more rural environment in Gloucestershire Stephen worked for a few smaller contractors continuing with the commercial aspect of estimating and quantity surveying but also incorporated project management. The growth of insurance contractor networks in the mid-1990s led Stephen to the development of specific insurance repair construction divisions focused on fire flood storm and vehicle impact works across a wide range of properties including listed buildings, industrial units, leisure centres, swimming pools plus domestic properties including high net worth clients. Following 35 years within the contracting sector Stephen took a one-year sabbatical travelling around Europe, returning to take up a role as a consultant Quantity Surveyor / Principal Designer / Project Manager within the insured loss building repair sector.
